Chess Team

We have over 25 enthusiastic chess players who are members of the Chess Club. They meet in the library at lunchtime and practice their chess skills constantly.

In Term 1, we ran a successful chess tournament where the winners and runners-up received trophies and certificates. We selected seven students from this tournament to represent the school in the inter-school chess competition organised by the NSW Junior Chess League. 

This is a great occasion for our chess players to meet players from other schools and exchange ideas and tactics of the game in a friendly atmosphere. This opportunity for social interactions with like-minded students also encourages players to take more interest in chess. Now the competition has passed the halfway mark and the results so far are:

Evans HS vs Quakers Hill HS – Evans HS was the winner

Evans HS vs Oakhill College – Evans HS was the winner

Evans HS vs Baulkham Hills HS Team A – Baulkham Hills HS was the winner

Evans HS vs Baulkham Hills HS Team B – 2 all draw

Evans HS vs Baulkham Hills HS Team C – yet to play

Evans HS vs The Kings School - yet to play

Our team members are Bismilah Mohammedi, Abdul Nawrozi, Pawan Chawla, Ali Mardan Muhseni, Nawsherwan, Ali Amiri, and Faizal Mohammadi.
