World Refugee Day

Evans truly shone brightly as we celebrated the rich diversity of our school for the annual World Refugee Day Showcase performance and International Food Fair. World Refugee Day is an international day designated by the United Nations to honour refugees around the globe and allows refugee students to share their experiences with the school community. Evans students entertained our guests, including Walters Rd and Blacktown West Primary schools, as well as the whole Evans HS and IEC student body, to an exceptional set of performances from all around the world in both music and dance. At lunchtime, we saw the stage turn into a runway for the fashion parade of beautiful and vibrant cultural dress that again highlighted the rich diversity of global culture that exists at our school. The International food fair was also a sell-out, with students indulging in a vast array of foods from the Middle East, Asia, Italy, and the Pacific Islands, with world desserts and a good old-fashioned Australian sausage sizzle.
