Year 10 and 11 Students - Work Experience with Victoria Police 20- 24 November at Wonthaggi Police Station - One spot - Application required

Victoria Police Work Experience Ballot has allocated us ONE place at the Wonthaggi Police Station from 20 - 24 November 2023. Interested students must:

  • Be fully vaccinated
  • Have the capacity to travel to or live in Wonthaggi for the dates specified
  • Be up to date with all learning tasks and have solid work habits and attendance
  • Have a demonstrated interest in roles within the police force (eg. via a previous career conversation, favourited careers in Morrisby, attendance at a Victoria Police Info Session - there is one coming up in Warragul on 24 July).
  • Submit an email application to Elly Martin (emartin@mscw.vic.edu.au) by Tuesday 20 June which includes - Your name; Year level; Confirmation relating to Points 1-4; Your top two Character Strengths; Your 2023 School Goal; Something school-related which you are proud of; and why you should be selected for this opportunity (recommend you include any relevant research from the https://www.police.vic.gov.au/careers  website).

Seasonal firefighting: Department of Environment, Land, Water and Planning are looking for people who want to help protect Victorian communities from bushfire to become seasonal firefighters as part of Forest Fire Management Victoria crews. No experience is needed, and you will work for a period of up to 22 weeks over the November – April period. Australian Border Force: Year 12 graduates have the opportunity to apply for the Border Force Officer Recruit Training (BFORT) program. This 12-month program prepares you for a role in the Australian Border Force. During your initial 12-month training course, you will be paid $54,439.00 (plus 15.4% superannuation). When you successfully complete the training course, you will become an APS3 General Duties Border Force Officer. You will play a vital role in protecting our borders. Department of Home Affairs GAP: Spend an exciting 12 months, where you’ll not only get paid to carry out meaningful and important work that improves the lives of all Australians but also gain life-changing skills. The Department of Home Affairs offers challenging and diverse employment in roles impacting many parts of Australian life –emergency management, trade and travel, national security, immigration, settlement services, citizenship and border security.

Successful applicants will be offered a 12-month contract at the Australian Public Service. Full time salary at commencement will be $54,439 per annum plus 15.4% superannuation contribution. 

You’ll have the opportunity at the end of the program to continue with Home Affairs through a part time APS3 internship program while completing tertiary studies. Positions will be located at various national offices across Australia.

Australian Federal Police: Applications are open for the 2024 Directions Program, an integrated 12-month employment and development program for people of First Nations background. Successful applicants will get to work in a variety of roles including canines, investigations, media, cyber security, intelligence and more.
