Year 10

During Term 2 a group of our Year 10 students headed out on work experiences to participate in unique and engaging placements. Our students joined retail stores, groomers, kindergartens, vets and hospitality venues.

This proved to be a valuable and rewarding opportunity for our students, assisting them in making decisions regarding future pathways and endeavors!

Below are some reflections on their experiences written by our students:

I did my work experience at Big Paws Little Paws. The part I most enjoyed was working in the daycare playing and taking care of the dogs. The tasks I was given were basic cleaning such as vacuuming and folding towels. I also was given instructions about each dog, how they act around meeting new people, what time they eat during daycare etc.

I want to say thank you to Big Paws Little Paws for allowing me to come into their workplace.

For Year 10 work experience I went to Priceline in Watergardens. During the 3 days I stocked shelves, served customers, handled money  and helped with stock take. I learnt how to speak to customers correctly and how to work the stock take machine. I enjoyed my experience and would love to do it again.

For work experience, I went to Sunbury All Creatures (a vet) and I did laundry, observed consults and surgeries, and learned how to monitor heart rates. I got to see a c-section and there were 8 puppies. I had an awesome time and would like to say a massive thank you to Sunbury All Creatures for this opportunity to help me towards my future.

For work experience, I worked at Deer Park Club as a kitchen hand doing kitchen duties. I learnt how to cut up vegetables and meats, vacuum seal raw chicken and weigh food. I also worked in the bistro, cleaning tables, rolling napkins with cutlery inside it, setting tables and doing dishes. I would like to say a big thank you to the Deer Park Club for giving me this chance to experience what it's like working in a real kitchen.

I went to a kindergarten around where I live. I was hanging out with children for three whole days (8am-2pm). It was fun playing games with the children and helping them do things they couldn't do. The children were very nice and sweet towards the teachers including me. I did find some children got attached to me fast which made it hard to leave them to spend time with other children. The children screaming made my head hurt but other than that I really enjoyed helping the children but it probably something I wouldn't want to do for the rest of my life.
