Extended School Day

Another successful season of Extended School Day has concluded and we need to thank all of our facilitators who work with our children. As always we thank the families for their understanding and commitment  to work with their children and collecting them at 5pm amid all of the traffic problems. We do always stress road safety and it is something we cannot let up on until the new school reconstruction is complete.

Thank you also to our students who bring energy and enjoyment to the last part of the day.

PERFORMING ARTS IN P-8

Throughout Term 2 the 7/8 students at Peacock were introduced to a number of different dance styles, each time learning some typical or traditional movements of that style. Some of their Favourites were Country and Western Line, Hip Hop and Bollywood. Towards the end of the term each class decided on some songs and styles to choreograph a whole class dance, inspired by these styles. We had some great results.

KINDNESS - Guitar Donation

The college experienced wonderful generosity when a gentleman named Craig, asked  if the College could use some guitars that he had made. He then arrived with five incredible guitars, three of which have the most beautiful wood finish.

They are truly appreciated, as is Craig, for his kindness and craftsmanship.

IMPACT Year 9

During the term the Year 9 IMPACT students have worked on an old fashion radio play. After working with an author, the local radio station, and an actor. After working on a story and a selection of sound effects, the say arrived for them to go to Oxygen College's recording studio Don't Poke the Bear.

on Monday we went to oxygen college (Don't poke the bear) and recorded our radio show that we have been practicing for a couple of weeks now. we have worked on the sound and format of the show and worked together as a team to put this together.

I had a lot of fun in this experience and would definitely do it again:) By Lizzie

On 29 May, we went to Don’t Poke the Bear to record our radio show. There were initially a few volume difficulties, but it resulted in what I believe to be a good performance. I had a fair bit of fun and enjoyed the task. I’m most proud of how I managed to do 2 roles. By Reginald

Year 10 Arts Camp

The Year 10 IMPACT students attended a Melbourne based Camp thanks to the Positive Start Program. In their work Journal they highlighted

Museum

The Melbourne Now exhibit was absolutely awesome. there were different pieces of art and there was a really big wall of just different things like a built tent and hoses and MUCH MORE, and it reminded me of Costco so I called it the Costco wall. and there was a VR simulation of what death would be like it was very abstract and weird                       By Brock

IMAX

IMAX was a really great experience because we got to see the new Spiderman ANIMATED movie and we had the best seats in the cinema, the screen and sound system was much bigger and better than a regular cinema. It was an enjoyable experience and i would go again.  Ashton

ARTVO

An awesome experience, something I would go to again. Through the camera the paintings come into life seeming realistic. Even without the lens the paintings are already as life like it can be through my eyes even though they are not 3D. I had fun posing in the pictures, making silly poses and serious ones. By Julia

Graffiti Lanes

The graffiti lanes were really cool and i enjoyed taking photos in the creative areas, the cutest part though was when we all signed the wall - it's something we'll have forever and I'm really happy and grateful they were the people with me that day.   By Macca

7 / 8 SEED

Semester 2 starts late in the second term and our 7/ 8 SEED program students have begun their semester 2 range of sports. These include Table Tennis, Volleyball, Basketball and Hockey:

The 7 / 8 SEED program relies upon the specialised coaching from experts and this short video shows how basket ball skills and training really work.

Ascend - S.E.E.D.

“We went to the Essendon football club, it was really cool to see them train in real life at there club. A couple of the players came and spoke to us about there training sessions and what it was like being a professional footballer. It was amazing to see what an athlete does at an elite sporting club, it showed me how many different jobs there are involved in a sporting environment” Oscar (bottom left of this picture)
