VMS Enviro Expo
On Wednesday 31 May, Year 12 VM students held an Enviro Expo celebrating the work they had done throughout the semester. Students worked in small teams to plan and implement an action plan to raise awareness for an environmental issue of their choice. Topics ranged from plastic pollution through to deforestation and protecting marine environments. Some groups also organised some engaging activities, including a variety of beach clean ups, along with a tree planting day at Cowies Creek. During the expo various Year 9 and 10 classes were educated on these issues and took part in a range of games, quizzes and activities. Students raised money which will be forwarded to both Sea Shepherd and toward adopting an Orangutan. This was a great experience for the VMS students who will now look to take what they have learned and apply this to promoting a social justice issue.

Structured Workplace Learning Update
It's exciting to see so many VM / VPC students out and about in a range of different industries. We now have most of our community heading out each Friday, gaining valuable work experiences. Some highlights include:
Year 11 Health and Wellbeing Community Market
On Tuesday 13 June the Year 11 VM Students organised a Community Market Stall as part of their Small Business Enterprise. It was exciting to see finished products available for sale, including Sports Recovery Packs, key rings, fun tshirts and a range of other items. Students will follow up on feedback received and we look forward to their next market in the second semester.

Work Related Skills Update
On Friday the VPC class undertook a Car Safety and Maintenance Session with Phil Knight in the GITTC. This will tie in well with the work they will undertake in relation to the issue of road safety.
Several of our Year 10 students had the opportunity to be involved with the ABCN Digital Focus Program this term! They were selected based on their leadership potential, and linked with mentors online for three sessions of work around skills and dispositions required in being able to be effective leaders. As seen in the table below, the program has significantly impacted the girls involved, with them completing entry and exit surveys on their leadership capacity where they rated themselves on a scale of 1 to 7 in various aspects of leadership. Well done to all girls involved and thanks to Ken Massari for supporting them during their sessions!

On Wednesday the 24 May, the girls of BBBH attended their second forum of 2023 at the Victorian Academy for Teaching and Leadership, where we separated and joined forces with female students across a number of schools to improve our plans of action and discuss the direction we are heading in as we move forward. The day included several engaging activities such as mindfulness and goal setting, and we were even lucky enough to enjoy a deliciously healthy lunch prepared by the staff of the event.

On Friday 16 June the Year 12 Legal Studies class attended Newcomb Secondary College to see a panel of past Geelong alumni who now work for KPMG in the Geelong and Melbourne offices. We initially heard from a panel of staff, live streamed from Melbourne, and then a smaller panel of two in real life. We learned about the different commence jobs available in a consulting firm like KPMG and the pathways our panelists took to get these jobs. All students were invited to give a formal thank you to our panelists and Anita Ali Asghar stood up in front of the auditorium and gave a lovely gratitude speech. We thank Anita for demonstrating the school value of kindness and all students for being such wonderful representatives of our school community on the day.
