TERM 2

Last Thursday some of the year 3, 4 ,5 and 6s played Netball and Footy we are going to tell you how it went.

Year 5/6 Football

For the Footy team we played 8 games in total with 15 minute halves.

For the first game we played St Mary's in St Kilda and we won that game. Our second game was against St Anthony's Glen Huntly but sadly we lost to them. Our third game we played St Columba's and we smashed it. We were all so muddy that game. After the win, we played St Joseph's Black Rock and we won by about 3 goals. We had a break after that and we got ready to play against Our Lady of Lourdes. St Agnes won that game. Our second last game was against St James Brighton and we also won that game. For our very last game we played against St Joseph's Elsternwick . They hadn't lost a game yet however unfortunately we lost to them by about 3 goals. We were so nervous as we wondered if we were going to make the grand final . Mr Foott told us the news that we were in the Grand Final! We played against St Joseph's Elsternwick. It was a very tight game but they got the better of us and they won the grand final by 1 point. The St Agnes team were so disappointed but we were happy to make it to the grand final. Thank you Mr Foott for coaching us and we hope to beat them in Hoop Time. Thank you to the year 3s and 4s for making the numbers. Next year I hope we get sweet revenge

Mixed Netball

On Wednesday 7th of June, our Netballers went off to the Lightning Premiership at the Thomas Street netball courts. We got there at around 9:30am and played our first game at 10am against St Mary's in St.Kilda and won 21-0. They were a great team and we enjoyed going up against them for our first game. Our next game was against St Joseph's in Black Rock and we won again 15-1. After that, we played St Columba's Elwood and won again by 13 goals. The third game, we had a bye and ate our lunch and did some drills. The last game for the round robin was against St Anthony's Glen Huntley and we won again with the final score being 17-2.

After what we thought was our last game, we ended up coming first on the ladder and we moved on to the Semi Finals. In the Semi Final game, we had some great skills on display and it was a very tough team however, in the end we came away with the win.

We felt very proud of ourselves to have made it to the Grand Final against St. Columba's. We were very nervous to be in the Grand final and everyone was feeling mixed emotions. Before we knew it, the game began and right to the end of the half we were only winning 3-1. After the first half our coach, Mrs Miller had a talk with us before the last half and she said just have fun and try your best. As soon as the siren went off for the second half, we dominated and won the game 10-1. Everyone was very excited that we had won the Grand Final.

Then we stayed for the presentations and were ecstatic that we heard our school get called out by the administrator for the day. In the end, we took home the mixed boys/girls shield.

It was a great day and we had lots of fun and we hope that the other teams were happy that they came along too. Well done St Agnes!
