From the Principal

Dear Parents and Carers,

Our school always has something about to happen or something that has just finished. It is a sign of a community that is engaged with each other and an essential indication of our community's health.

I want to take a moment to express my appreciation to Mrs Michielsen and her team for orchestrating an outstanding Careers Expo for our students from Year 5 to Year 12 last week. This event has become a highlight in our school calendar and one of which we are very proud. This team have worked diligently for nearly 12 months, providing our students with a unique opportunity to explore various career paths and gain valuable insights into what they might like to study and pursue post-school. This year's Careers Expo drew over 40 organisations, including numerous esteemed universities. The presence of these organisations speaks volumes about the reputation and significance of our event within the broader community. Congratulations to everyone that was involved.

In addition to celebrating the success of the Careers Expo, I am grateful for the effort put into organising the Commissioning Service for my role as Principal. The support and dedication from all involved left me humbled and reminded of the profound importance of my responsibilities. It was a special occasion and reminded us that our young people are at the heart of everything we do.

Over the past week, Pitt Park has been buzzing with budding athletes and team spirit as we held both the Junior School and Senior School Athletics Carnivals. I have enjoyed the cheers of encouragement, and the camaraderie among students has been outstanding. While we have a strong House culture at Blue Mountains Grammar School, I am most impressed that the cheering and encouragement are generously provided to all. These carnivals were not just about competition; they celebrate determination, sportsmanship, and teamwork. Congratulations to all the participants for giving it their all, and a heartfelt thank you to the teachers, staff and parents who made these events possible.

As I finish this Newsletter, I must call out to all ogre enthusiasts and fairytale fanatics! Don't miss the opportunity that awaits you at our upcoming Junior School "Shrek - The Musical" performance! You may be transported to the magical kingdom of Far Far Away - you will likely meet the grumpy yet lovable Shrek, the sassiest donkey in town, and a host of quirky characters. Mark your calendars and grab your onions because this event will have you smiling and applauding the efforts of our staff and students.
