Congratulations to the Years 7 and 8 Girls Basketball Team on becoming Runners Up Victorian State Champions.  The team consisted of:  Alannah Morello (Co-Captain), Indiana Spratt (Co-Captain), Matisse Hill, Ava Zadow, Alexandra Leng, Olivia Tassone, and Louise Anstey.

The team, who was made up of a majority of Year 7 girls and one Year 8 girl defeated three very strong sides. In particular, Maribyrnong College (a Sports Academy School) to go on to face Templestowe College in the Grand Final. Templestowe, a College with an Elite Sports Development Program in Basketball were unfortunately stronger, taller and older and after putting up a very strong fight in the first half to be up by two points, the girls went down by 15 points.

Michael Quin, Sam Doering and I were extremely proud of the girls for their commitment and perseverance in what was a very long day. They were the team that travelled the furthest and had only played with each other a handful of times. To be State Runners Up is a fantastic achievement.

A special shout-out also to the Year 9 Girls Cricket team, who also travelled to Melbourne with us only to find out the tournament was cancelled. They were fantastic in supporting the basketballers and their behaviour was exemplary.
