DANTE ALIGHIERI AWARDS
The Dante Alighieri Awards were held at Mercy Campus Stadium last week. Two students per class at St Joseph’s College studying Italian in Years 7 to 12 were awarded with either a certificate of merit or distinction for their efforts studying Italian.
As well as this, the Moira Furey award is presented to one Year 10 and Year 12 student in the entire region. The recipient of this award is decided by The Dante Alighieri Society and I am pleased to announce St Joseph’s College students Alexandra Marwood (Year 10) and Nicolas Rensen (Year 12) were the recipients of these awards.
Congratulations to all award winners, the College is proud of all of our students.

This week students have commenced Year 12 Headstart. Over the course of the week students have met their Year 12 teachers and undertaken classes in preparation for their studies next year. Students have also visited La Trobe University where they have undertaken lectures focusing on John Dunne’s Poetry for English, Sociology and decision making, Leadership, University and TAFE pathways, applications and study skills. I would like to thank Ash Ryan and La Trobe University for hosting us and assisting students in their preparations for Year 12.

NOVUS 2018
At St Joseph's College our focus is always to strive for continual improvement in all aspects of our educational programs, with the primary objective of improving student outcomes and wellbeing.
We are excited to announce that some of the most important changes will begin even before the 2019 school year, with a new initiative for 2019 Year 11 students.
The 2019 Year 11 program will now commence with an immersive “urban experience” program we are calling Novus (Latin for new), based at the University of Melbourne from December 3 to December 7, 2018. Read more about this great opportunity here... (see attachment)
As St Joseph’s College evolves to meet the changing needs of our learning community, so will the requirements of its learning and teaching program. As such, the current camps and retreat program is not intended to present the schedule in which the College will perform in perpetuity.
