Collaborative STEM Program

As a way of embedding STEM within the curriculum students from year 8 are trialing a cross-curriculum project on cars involving a collaboration between the science and mathematics faculties. This involves year 8 students designing and building cars, using LEGO in the construction. 

 

The maths associated with the project involves the topic measurement. Students measure the shape of the car body, wheels etc. The science associated with the project involves the topic energy with students identifying the energy needed by cars when they are both stationary and in motion.

 

Students  are working enthusiastically with this collaborative task.
