Interschool District Finals

The last Friday of term, the Boys Softball team played off a District Final against Good Shepherd PS.  Our boys won 13 to 4.  Well done boys!  They now progress through to the Maroondah Division Finals next Friday October 18th, to play against the winners from the other 2 districts.  Good luck boys.

Division Track & Field Competition

In very cold and wet conditions, we had 13 of our students compete at the Maroondah / Manningham Division Athletics Competition.  Considering the circumstances, they all did really well.  Congratulations to Mitchell P ( SNR) who won the 10yr boys Triple Jump and High Jump.  Also well done to Aliyah Macgreggor -Skinner who came 2nd in the 12 Girls Hurdles.  Both of these students will compete next Thursday in the Eastern Region finals.

Well done also to Alice W (SDB) who cam 3rd in her Triple jump and Jack C ( SAH) who came 3rd in his 12 yr Boys Shotput.

Prep and Junior House Cross Country

On Tuesday October 22nd, the Prep and Junior House Cross Country will be on.  All students in each level are expected to participate in this fun event.  Students will be competing only against their own age group and gender, ie: Prep Boys only, Prep Girls Only, Year 1 Girls only etc.  We would really appreciate the assistance of as many parents as possible to help out with supervision of certain corners around the school.  If you can spare the time on the Tuesday morning, could you please fill in and return the form to the classroom teacher.   Once complete, Mrs Yorke will contact parents to let them know where they have been allocated for that morning.

Art Corner

Welcome back to the final term of the year. This term we have our Art Show, November 11th which is a wonderful opportunity to showcase the creative works of our students.

All students in Years 1 to 6 will need to bring a bag next week for their art lesson.  Students will be required to choose their art piece for display in the Art Show and all other items will go home.  So a recycle cloth bag or a strong reusable plastic bag will be best.

A reminder for Year 6 students that we have an excursion to the city in Week 5 (28th Oct and 29th Oct) The excursion is on Compass, so permission slips and payment will need to be completed before the excursion date.

Thank you all and looking forward to more creative works this term

SCHOLASTIC BOOKCLUB

Today everyone should receive a Scholastic Book Club brochure.  We only send out Scholastic brochures twice a year – once in Term 3 and again early in Term 4.  If you don’t receive yours there will be limited spares available from the Library.  The orders are due back by Tuesday 15th October.  If you choose the LOOP option (explained on the order form) you order your child’s individual items and pay for them online.  No paperwork needs to be sent to the school.  Your order will be received with the school’s orders and will be delivered to your child’s classroom along with the orders of the other students.  This is the only way to pay by credit card.  If you try to put through a late order (which will be a couple of days after they are due back at school) you will be given the option to pay postage and have it sent directly to your home address.

Cash or cheque orders are sent to the school.  No orders are to go to the Library or class teachers – they are to go directly to the office.  Please ensure that these orders have Name and Class on both the order form and the envelope.  If you want orders as gifts just put your name and a phone number on the order form and mark it clearly as a gift.  There is also a ‘Gift’ option if you pay by credit card, (however this is outside my control if it comes back from Scholastic with your child’s name on it). We will contact you when they arrive at school and hold them at the office for you to collect.  Cheques should be payable to “Scholastic Australia”.  We do earn valuable points for every purchase made which are used for new library books.  Your support is greatly appreciated.

Thanks to all who Earn & Learned

A big "THANK YOU" from our Prep students to all families who contributed to the Earn & Learn sticker campaign earlier this year.  Our school rewards arrived this week and were distributed, this year it is our Preps and Junior students who have benefitted from extra resources.  The Preps have been super-excited and super-busy using their new sandpit toys - it's a wonderful way to spend recess!

Polishing Up our Fundraising

Middle school teacher, Shane Holloway is this year's face of the October Polished Man Campaign, aimed at raising awareness and working to end violence against children worldwide.

On Monday October 21st and Tuesday October 22nd, our school is supporting Shane by asking students to bring a gold coin donation, in return for which they can have one nail painted with polish to indicate their commitment to the program's aims.

Please read the flyer carefully - it outlines the reasons for the campaign and where your donation goes.

We are also asking parents to donate bottles of blue nail polish, which our Student Leaders will use to adorn the nails of participating students.
