Principal's Report

From Christian's desk....

Principals in the classroom

It was great to be involved in learning in MBW last Friday.

At Croydon Hills we value the explicit teaching of social-emotional skills.  In the session I joined students engaged in a Resilience Project lesson aimed at developing their ability to identify character strengths in themselves and others.

Great News!

Last week Michael Sukkar, Federal Member for Deakin, visited Croydon Hills to announce Croydon Hills Primary School is the recipient of a $15,000 Local Schools Community Fund Grant. This money will go towards enhancing our upper Prep Courtyard.

Michael Sukkar stayed on for our Celebration Assembly and Student Leaders’ badge presentation. Michael shared that he was amazed by our community and blown away by the atmosphere.

Wellbeing Play Space

Did you know?

This year our Education Support Staff supervise students in the Wellbeing Play Space between the PAC and Library every lunchtime.  This play space is a great area for students who require that ‘little bit extra’ support to form friendships and play in comfort.  This is just one way our school provides an inclusive and supportive environment for all students, of all needs.

Announcement of School Council

Last week our School Council nominations closed.  Nominations filled our all positions precisely.  As such, the positions will not have to go to a vote in either the DET or Parent categories.  I will update the community on March 19, following the ratification of members to Office at the March 18th AGM.

Meet the Teacher Evening

It was terrific to see the large number of families who took advantage of the opportunity to get to know their child's 2020 teacher at our recent Meet the Teacher evening. This is a vital connection as it gives families and staff an opportunity to create a relationship and partnership to support their child’s year.

I would like to thank and acknowledge the teachers who spent the evening at school, away from their own families and friends.

School Fair

The Fair Committee are on a roll and, following the distribution of the Fair Newsletter, the excitement in the community is building!

A reminder:

School Review – Parent Consultation

If you are interested in providing feedback to support the School Review process, I am hosting a Parent Consultation Session on Monday 2nd March at 7:00pm and would love to see you there.
