Thank you once again

I would like to start off by thanking and congratulating staff and students for their smooth transition into remote and flexible learning. While it is never easy to do this, the willingness for everyone to get on board and support each other and get everything done is a credit to you all.

Please ensure you reach out to your Year Level Coordinators if you are struggling and need support. Ms East is also available to organise wellbeing support if needed. She can be reached  on her email eas@cheltsec.vic.edu.au.

It is important that students are joining the google meet for every period. Not only does this allow the teacher to convey the work for you to do, but it gives everyone the opportunity to connect with each other and ask for assistance if you need it. Teachers also find it easier to speak to the class if cameras are on, it helps them connect and gauge whether people need help or if you are understanding what the task is, so I would encourage everyone to do this.

Looking After Yourself

It is only natural for you to have ups and downs during this challenging time. It is important you are putting steps in place to look after not only your physical health, but your mental and emotional health. Below are some suggestions that might help you do this:

  • Organise a check in buddy that you connect with each day to see how each of you are doing
  • Undertake daily exercise for a minimum of 20 minutes
  • Set up your study space in a different location to where you sleep if possible
  • Keep a daily routine
  • Set boundaries, for example, switch off technology at 6pm each night
  • Watch a movie you enjoy
  • Read a book
  • Mix up activities while completing remote schooling, so that you are sitting, standing and walking around regularly
  • Stretch and get out of your chair at the end of each class
  • Drink plenty of water
  • Learn something new
  • Practise gratitude: what 3 things went well today
  • Eat more nutritious food
  • Listen to music
Thank you to the outstanding artwork across the Cheltonian cover pages in this issue. Many of our students  have been attending to their own wellbeing and we appreciate the sharing of their work.

Course Counselling

This week has seen staff, students, parents and carers participate in course counselling. Over 300 families took part in this. Staff really enjoyed the opportunity to connect with families and chat with students about their future pathways. Students should find out late November what subjects they will be completing in 2022. Thank you to all the staff that were involved in assisting our families.

School Calendar

As it is difficult to determine what events will or wont take place for the remainder of Term 3, our Cheltonian 'Important Dates' page has been omitted from this issue. Please check Compass newsfeed or notifications. We will advise of events as information comes to hand.
