About the School Council

All government schools in Victoria have a School Council that has a number of responsibilities including assisting in the efficient governance of the school, enhancing the educational opportunities of students at the school and ensuring that the best interests of students are considered in decision making. School Council participates in the development and monitoring of the school strategic plan and school policy, and plays an important role in overseeing the school’s financial operations and budget.

The core membership of the school council is normally fourteen members – two Student, five Parent, three Community and four Department Employee members. Student Voice on School Council is particularly important, with the SRC represented by two elected student members.

The School Council Membership includes:

Student members: Sami Pauliuk; Tobias Swales

Parent members: Debbie Feben; Arabella Daniel (Vice-President); Ester Yefet; Susannah Bowen-Wheatley (Treasurer); Andrew Hall (President)

Department Employee members: Karl Russell; Brooke Matthews; Helen Page; Jenny Willis

Community members: Rory Hall; Mel Jacobs

School Council meets (at least) 8 times a year and Council members are also involved in a number of sub-committees with a focus on particular areas of priority. These include:

  • Student Services
  • Education Policy
  • Engagement and Communication
  • Building and Grounds
  • Finance
