From the Principal

                                                                           Therese Stewart

Dear Families,

Remote Learning continues with families engaging each day and doing a great job for which we are very grateful.  Learning would not continue at home without YOU!

We have postponed our Cybersafety Day that was scheduled for next Thursday.  We were very fortunate to secure another date this year.  Please mark the new date in your diaries. Thursday 7th October.

I mentioned in last weeks newsletter that we have two further pupil free days this term.  Due to the circumstance of the children once again learning remotely we have cancelled the pupil free day on Monday 30th August.  The children need to be at school and this pupil free day can wait.

We are unable to cancel the August 9th pupil free day as this is preparation for Review with tasks that must be completed prior to our Reviewers first visit on Thursday 16th September. Our Reviewer is David Allibon, he has a wealth of experience in education and is looking forward to visiting our school and working with the community, as together we reflect on the school improvement progress of the last four years and plan for the future.  The new Principal, Patrick Green will be part of this process with a further three days of Review next term (These are not pupil free days) but days where David will visit classrooms and meet the children, meet with the school's leadership team and  staff and with a representation of the parent community.  It is an affirming, collaborative process that reflects on the past and begins the process for the next 4 year phase of school improvement.

Over the last week I have sent two emails to families in regard to having the opportunity of joining a free webinar with psychologist Andrew Fuller.  These webinars were very very popular and were capped at 500 attendees.  I know some of our families were unsuccessful. Yesterday I sent the second link for the webinars planned for next week.  I hope those who were interested were able to secure a booking and that they were worthwhile for you and your family.

Tomorrow is National Tree Day.  We had organised in collaboration with the Eltham Rotary Club as part of the School's Seedling Project for every child to take home a bagged seedling tomorrow.  This will still happen at a later date and we hope that there is a special place in your garden for the seedling.

Please keep our Year 5-6 teacher, Andrea Chesterman in your thoughts and prayers.  Andrea's younger sister Janette passed away last night after a battle with cancer.  She was a much loved daughter, sister, aunty, wife and mother to five young children.

Take care of yourselves over the next few days.  We did it once, twice, three, four and now five times. Hang in there students, families and staff, we can do it again.  We are thinking of you, as we really, really 'hope' to see all children and staff back at school on Wednesday morning.  Thank you for your support, please do what is best for your family and don't hesitate to contact your child's teacher or myself if you need to.

Until then

Therese

Please keep the Revell family (Lachie 5/6A) in your thoughts and prayers at this sad time as, Lachie’s Pa (Stuart’s father), passed away last Tuesday.
