Book Week 2021
Planting the seeds of what you need to know about Book Week at SMPS
The 2021 Children's Book Council of Australia Book Week will be returning to our school week beginning Monday 23rd August. During this time, students will engage in a number of fun activities, all in relation to a love of Literacy.
All SMPS students are invited to design their own Book Week Poster.
Posters need to incorporate the Book Week theme: Old worlds, New Worlds, Other Worlds
Winners will receive a book voucher to be used at the SMPS book fair and have their poster hung around the school! There will be 1 winner for each grade.
We have extended the deadline- Please give your poster to your class teacher by Friday 13th August
On Friday 27th August, every student is invited to come to school dressed as their favourite character from their favourite book. Restrictions permitting, we will have a parade of costumes in the gymnasium to celebrate all of the students (and carers!) efforts with their costumes.
All of our classes will visit our very own SMPS library. Miss Zoe, our librarian has been busy creating displays and celebrating the Book Week books with students. Miss Zoe is so excited to celebrate Book Week with the students. Many of our classes will also be visiting local libraries. (Restrictions permitting)
Students will be buddied up across the school to read a book together. This is a great opportunity for the older students to practise reading aloud to an audience.
Our wonderful Leadership Team: Mr Noel, Miss Carmen, Miss Jenny and Miss Maddy will all be reading a book aloud for the entire school!
On Monday 23rd August-Friday 27th August from 8:45am-9:00am and 3:30pm-3:45pm. The Book Fair will be open in the School Library. Come and have a browse (restrictions permitting). All purchases give 40% of profits back to SMPS.
