Faith & Wellbeing

WELLBEING

During Semester 1 our House Points Challenge has been a fantastic motivator for students to display the school values, follow classroom expectations and even bring back the sports equipment.

The house that has the most points this semester across all classrooms will be allowed to wear casual clothes with a touch of the colour of the house. The winning house was announced at assembly today, which was Gold house - Conquest.

Once again we have had to bounce back from Lockdown. We should all be so proud of the resilience that the students of St James have shown returning to school. Last week when the students returned the grade 6 Wellbeing Leaders, Pia R, Olivia V, Venetia W and Mia T, ran activities to ensure all students felt the connection coming back to school with their peers and to continue building relationships.  Activities included skipping, parachute and big ball games as well as circus activities-stilts, balls/hoops with ribbons, throwing and catching scoops.

B kinder day was celebrated at St James on Tuesday 22nd June. Everyone could always use a little more kindness in our day.

On Tuesday classes had conversations about what it actually means to be kind and how do we show kindness?

All students were given a card bought especially for the day, which has pictures of art work from a girl called Billie who tragically died at the age of 12 in a horse riding accident.

One of Billie’s dreams was to write a book about hope. Students wrote cards to someone that they are grateful for in their life or even just to show some kindness to someone. We are hoping that over the holidays families will have the opportunity to pass the card onto the person they have written it for.

Feast of the Sacred Heart/Winter Appeal

Thank you to everyone for your amazing support of this year's WInter Appeal. We had a lovely Assembly led by our SRC representative to hand over all our donations to St VIncent De Paul.

Sacraments

Last week the Year 3 and Year 5 students celebrated their Sacrament of Reconciliation. It was a beautiful celebration of our Catholic faith and the students all did such an amazing job.
