OSHClub
What we’ve been up to at OSHC!
We have had so much fun over the past two weeks as we’ve continued engaging with our after-school clubs! Within these clubs our weekly goals of focus have centred around building an awareness of healthy minds and bodies for overall wellbeing.
Sustainability Club
The children have had an awesome time developing their creativity and imagination as they have engaged with a range of materials from the local environment. Building a connection and respect for the natural environment, children have thoroughly enjoyed building all kinds of amazing creations in our loose parts play area. Some highlights have included fairy gardens, candy land and rainbow world! Building upon the children’s respect for the environment, we will continue to embed sustainable practices into our program next term.
Homework Club
Providing a safe and supportive environment for students to complete homework tasks, staff have continued to support children with readers, spelling and homework projects. Check out what we’ve been up to below!
Sports Club
The children have had an absolute blast in sports club over the past two weeks, developing their serve and carving it up on the tennis court! Building upon their gross motor skills as they focused on coordinating hand and eye to bounce, catch and hit the tennis ball, the children have really enjoyed these experiences.
Creative Club
Associated with our fortnightly goal, children absolutely loved getting creative as they designed their own germ monsters! Engaged in conversations about how germs can spread and make us ill, we discussed how we can stop this process by washing our hands. Check out how creative our OSH-tronauts are below!
Cooking Club
Back by popular demand, the children have had a fabulous time cooking up a storm in the OSHC kitchens! Developing their awareness of mathematical concepts through measurement and estimation, we have baked some delicious banana muffins. In addition, the children were provided with the opportunity to explore Vietnamese culture and develop their community connections as they made rice paper rolls!
Family Tree
Recently at OSHC, we’ve been working on the creation of our OSHClub family tree. Charlie in Grade 1 has helped to paint the sign for this area and has been the first family to join our tree. We hope to use this space as an area to celebrate the different cultures and families that make up the OSHC community at St James.
If you currently attend OSHC, we would greatly appreciate if you could send through a family photo so that we can build our tree!
