Principal's Report

Our Bridges program today... The children heard a story about The Hungry Caterpillar, sang a song and then made beautiful caterpillars of their own. Oh what fun!

How wonderful it is to see our children back to learning in their classrooms and playing with their friends at break times. The Drop and Go approach is working well and all classes are settling quickly into their daily learning and wellbeing routines. I am particularly impressed with our Preps who, for the most part, are doing Drop and Go so confidently and developing independence. Over the next few weeks our teachers will be working on rebuilding learning stamina and strengthening their classroom community.

From next week we will continue our ‘Drop and Go’ approach. This is a terrific opportunity for students to develop independence and responsibility and will help us avoid moving to staggered start and finish times.

The most important takeaways from our updated Operations Guide in brief:

  • Mask wearing inside and outside for adults
  • Minimising the number of adults on school grounds
  • No face to face meetings
  • QR code is mandatory

DROP OFF

You can drop your child off at any of the three entry points to the school where staff will be there to greet your child from 8.45am. Please avoid congregating outside the drop off points.

PICK UP

  • Preps: Please meet where you usually collect your children, wear a mask, socially distance and leave once you have your child.
  • Grade 1/2s: Please wait at the blue basketball court, wear a mask, socially distance and leave once you have your child.
  • Grade 3/4s: Please wait under the giant shade sail next to the Art room, wear a mask, socially distance and leave once you have your child. Alternatively organise an external meet point.
  • Grade 5/6s: Please wait at the bat tennis courts outside the Office area, wear a mask, socially distance and leave once you have your child. Alternatively organise an external meet point.

Let’s keep working together keep all our students at school and, as best we can, reduce the risk of any potential Covid-19 transmission.

This is Scarlett from Prep C proudly wearing her 100 Days of School outfit. The Prep students celebrated this milestone during remote learning and completed a range of  '100' activities. They made necklaces with 100 beads and wrote about what they would do if they had $100. I'm sure you can appreciate a 5 and 6 year old's perspective on $100 and some of their responses were priceless.

Mrs Verga and Mrs Calloway really missed having the day at school so next Friday our Prep students will celebrate their 100 days at school, at school!

On their first day back, Emily and Melody decided they wanted our school looking clean and came to show me what they had done. Thank you for your community mindedness!

Having missed out on a few Working Bees now, our mulch under the playground had become less than adequate. Yesterday we had 10 metres of mulch delivered. Thank you to my wonderful helpers for making a great start on spreading it out in the afternoon. If you happen to visit the playground on the weekend, feel free to bring some plastic tubs and spread some more. (Cheeky? I know, but we need to get it spread)

Thank you to the following students for your help: Angus N, Laken S, Liam H, Amber H, Sashie C, Fraser B, Fletcher S, Oscar P, Archer B, Owen G, Lucas O, Jack P & Henry LF.

A message from Maria Healey our Transition Coordinator...

Transition to Year 7 2022 Update:

On Wednesday, those students who applied for a Year 7 place at a state secondary school will bring home a letter with details of their Year 7 offer. This letter contains advice about how to take this up, as well as what to do should you choose to decline the place.

Have a safe and happy weekend
