School Council – President’s Report – July

We’re back at school – hooray!  I saw lots of happy children and even happier parents at the gates on Wednesday morning.

Firstly, we would like to congratulate and thank everyone in the school community for demonstrating such resilience and agility to move from school to home and then back to school again.

Thank you and a job well done to every parent, guardian and family member who gave “school from home” a red-hot crack!  Many of you were juggling work, kids and other commitments at the same time.  Put simply, you rock! Well done.

Thank you and a job well done to our kids who transitioned from school to kitchen tables, bedrooms and studies to learn remotely - again. You all demonstrated the school values of resilience and persistence. We are really proud of you and you should all feel really proud of yourselves too!

And of course, a huge thank you and job well done to all of the school staff and teachers who pivoted quickly to deliver remote learning, connection and support to our children.  This meant changing planned activities, approaches, schedules and more! Lockdown was a unique window into the classroom, and it was a privilege to see the commitment, passion and expertise of our teaching team up close.

To all our casual staff members impacted by lockdown, thank you for remaining in our community. We value your contribution and acknowledge how hard this is. We remain committed to OSHC, external music lessons, grounds, the canteen and other people that enrich our school community every day.

The speed of announcements relating to this lockdown meant that the school found out it when we did, Mark and Pam acted decisively and swiftly to develop a clear and transparent response – nailed it!

Lockdown impacts everyone in our IPS community differently, but I feel really proud of how we all came together. If you are struggling or need support, there are confidential options within the school.

If you or anyone you know needs help.
