Message from the Principal

St Anthony’s Parish and St Anthony’s School hold the care, safety and wellbeing of children and young people as central and fundamental responsibilities of the Church. St Anthony’s is fully compliant with all policies in relation to Child Safety. These documents ensure compliance with the Victorian Government Child Safety Standards which took effect on 1 January 2017 and reflect our Parishes’ ongoing commitment to ensuring that all children are safe, happy and empowered.

Dear Families and Friends of St Anthony's,

It was disappointing for all to hear that our current lockdown and remote learning period was going to be extended. As a school community, we want to be able to support each other, so please reach out to us if we can support you in any way.

Our transition back to remote learning was very smooth and I thank all staff, students and families for their support for one another. We have our students working with their teachers and peers online for; check ins, support and opportunities to work in small groups. You will notice that on Friday afternoons we will be encouraging all students, and staff to take a break from online screen time.

The silver lining for the current lockdown has certainly been the new skills our students have been demonstrating. These include technical troubleshooting, control over and use of many digital platforms and the amazing online rehearsals and performances I've seen this week, just to name a few. We have truly seen some stars in the making and I wait with anticipation for our Moana "movie" performance.

From Friday 20th August, I will be on leave for two weeks for medical reasons. James Gow will be acting Principal and Glennis Kerr will be acting Deputy Principal. I know that I leave the school in very capable hands and look forward to returning in Week 9.

The 8th of August was the feast day for our Aussie Saint Mary MacKillop. Mary MacKillop taught us about the importance of respecting one another and upholding the human dignity of all. She reminds us to never see a need without doing something about it.  Times like these the call for the act of hospitality to a stranger.

Holy God, source of all goodness,

You showed us in Mary MacKillop, a woman of faith who lived by the power of the cross.

Teach us to embrace what she pioneered:

New ways of living the Gospel that respect and defend the human dignity of all in our land.

Take care of yourselves and one another at this time. Remember we are here to support you and if you have any questions please contact school on 9546 0044 and we will continue to do our very best to help you.
