Focus on Learning

Welcome to Term 3!

This morning, staff and students returned to school, ready to begin the next chapter of our learning journey.

For our students, this term we focus on the Rule for Living, I am a Learner.

The first step to being a learner is to SHOW UP. Turning up to school each day, with a positive attitude and being ready to learn is essential, and this morning the staff greeted our students, thanked them for 'showing up' and welcomed them back with a 'bang'.

As the term progresses, we will continue to explore 'I am a Learner' with the students and provide information and tips to our parent community on how to help your child be the best learner they can be.

For our staff, we continue to focus on the wellbeing of our students, through establishing calm and collaborative classroom climates. This means ensuring that the classroom is a safe space where our students feel valued, respected and cared for, and where learning is valued by each member within the space.

The semester, the teachers are also embarking on another learning journey to further embed quality practices in the classroom. Our 'Writing: Building Better Practice' professional learning journey began yesterday as the staff explored how to use effective procedures to move through the process of writing in the classroom. We look forward to continuing to build our positive practices in the area of teaching writing and witnessing growth not only in writing achievement, but also in the passion and enthusiasm our students bring to their compositions.
