Lockdown and Term 3

Welcome everyone to Term 3. With week 1 ending in another lockdown, it is not the start to the term that we wanted, as we had intended to have a big focus on numeracy and literacy. Term 3 is a term without reports or parent interviews to organise and so everyone, teachers and students can focus on learning and teaching.

The amount of accumulative time that the children are spending out of the school in these lockdowns is a concern and we want to make sure that this term is one of focused learning for the children.

With home learning this time around, staff used Friday to get ready to move straight online with the children on Monday morning. We believe this is the best way to continue with the learning that is taking place in the classroom as quickly as possible.

It is very important during these lockdowns that everyone looks after themselves and each other. If any of our families are struggling with home learning please let us know so we can offer assistance.

As with the other lockdowns, parent and visitor access to school are restricted.

Operoo and Seesaw

We still have a small number of parents who are not on Operoo. It is important that families sign up to Operoo- particularly when we are in a lockdown and students are not at school. All communication is sent via Operoo.

Operoo has streamlined the way we get notices out to families and has cut down hugely on the number of printing notices, which can at times end up in the bottom of school bags or left lying around.  Seesaw, another online platform we use, is predominately for learning; however, we do use it for updates and reminders.

Thank you to parents who have signed up to Operoo. It is important that you check this frequently, especially during lockdown periods.

Enrolments

If any families have children that you want to enrol for 2022 please do that as soon as possible. Enrolments have started earlier than usual which is great. Prep transition will start during Term 3. This will allow us to better prepare our new students for their start to school.

Term 3 Events

Please read the next page of the newsletter with planned events for term 3.  We will be constructing the pictorial display at the front door of the school showing the main events that will take place throughout the term. Depending on the length of the lockdown and the restrictions that follow, we may have to make some changes to the events.

Congratulations to Phong, in year 1 and his family on the birth of his baby brother An!
