Going Green at Brunswick
As reported in the Brunswick Star last year (Issue 9 brunswick's backyard), VCAL 2016 students, the 2016 Science & Environment Club and interested staff joined forces to 're-green' the eastern boundary of the school following completion of the Gymnasium Building Project.
The group put a huge amount of work into the project, researching and planning the landscaping, preparing the soil and finally completing the planting. A lot of care was taken in choosing native plants that are well suited to the site and maximising the soil condition to ensure that the young plants had the best opportunity to thrive once in situ.
We are very pleased to say that this work is really paying off, with the plants still growing strong, spreading to fill the spaces, softening the vista, attracting insects and birdlife - and providing floral displays as well!
These outcomes are a testament to the students' approach to their project. Their teamwork, persistence and commitment to the job means that the garden will survive long into the future and continue to bring joy to the whole community. Well done!
