Congratulations to the many students who attended the annual BSC Athletics Carnival on the first Friday of Term 2.

The conditions were tough but it was excellent to see so many students ignore the wet weather and compete strongly for their Houses. Despite the rain and the wind, individual event records were smashed all day, with many excellent performances!

Oro (Gold) were again the superior House on the day going back to back - edging out Abyad (White) by just 8 points. Oro House Captain Mia Lanteri-Bartley and Year 7 Oro student Jannik Ernst rung the "Brunswick Bell" to signal the winners at the end of a fantastic day.

Oro, Oro, Oro, Oro! Athletics day was the day that Team Oro really flexed its muscles! After being robbed at the swimming sports, Oro destroyed the other Houses faster than the teh speed of the construction work at BSC!

Despite the wet weather, Team Oro was tougher than a woodpecker's lips, faster than a cat on a hot tin roof, jumped higher than a kangaroo on a trampoline and threw with the precision of a Pokémon Master trying to catch Pikachu with a pokéball!

The Athletics Carnival was a terrific day out and now we can’t wait for cross country competition! BRING IT ON!

The Athletics Carnival was a big hit with everyone involved! It was great to see active participation across all year levels. As the Year 7 cohort is so large, they had to mix competition with other age groups to cater to their size; the Year 7 and 10 boys in particular seemed to really bond at the carnival. The enthusiasm of both age groups was huge and helped keep the spirits lifted despite the wet weather. Oro (Gold) House was the winner at the end of the day - but it was a close competition. Thanks to all the teachers and volunteers who made it happen.

Athletics carnival 2017 went full speed ahead even with the threat of the weather on 21st of April. with a large amounts of events held from shot put, to sprints with triple jump in the middle the participation across all year levels was amazing to witness. Unfortunately coming in second by just 8 points Abyaad toughed out the day and put on a show.

Caagar

The fearless Caagar competitors couldn't wait to head off to Melbourne University to do  battle in the  BSC Athletics Carnival this year! Even with the wet weather, the Green Army were not deterred from taking part in the running, jumping and throwing events. Students reported that "It was lot of fun", " I enjoyed representing Caagar," and better still,  "I am looking forward to the carnival next year"!

Records were broken, House Spirit was high and every one left with a smile. Overall it was a great day - even with Oro winning with the most house points!

But the competition better WATCH OUT - Caager will be back to win cross country!

What a fabulous day we had at the BSC Athletics Carnival!

Caagar, Oro, Lan Se and Abyad Houses battled it out at the Melbourne Uni Athletics venue - competition was tough and spirit was high!

While the weather could have been more accommodating,  staff and students made the most of the day.  All students were really well prepared for the weather conditions and are commended for having such a positive, 'can-do' attitude at the event.

As these photos show - the lack of sunshine certainly did not dampen our smiles!
