Dunhelen

Mrs Francis Scuderi
I trust that all students had a relaxing and enjoyable break and are ready to start Term 4 with renewed energy. As always, this term will be another busy one.
Summer Uniform
Summer uniform is to be worn in Term 4. A reminder that the parka is not an item of summer uniform and students wearing parkas this term will have them confiscated.
Mobile Phones
Please note that students should not be using their mobile phone during school hours. Every student has been provided with a secured locker and phones should be stored in them every morning. Students found using phones during school hours will have them confiscated for the day. Please do not call or text your child during school hours. In an emergency, please phone Reception and they will pass the message on immediately.
Homework Club & Maths Assist
Homework Club will be running again this term. Students can attend every Tuesday and Thursday at lunchtimes to catch up with work. There is also Maths Assist running on certain days which Dunhelen students should feel free to attend. Please do speak to your child about letting their teacher know if they are experiencing difficulties with a topic or deadline. Speaking with the teacher well before the work is due will ease stress and usually results in favourable outcomes for all concerned.
Leadership Positions
This term we invite applicants for leadership positions for 2019. If you feel your child displays leadership skills, please encourage them to nominate themselves. Once all nominations are in, applicants will sit an interview with either myself and/or the Assistant Heads of Dunhelen. New Captains for 2019 will be notified before the end of this year.
Colour Awards
Students were spoken to at Assembly about the Aitken Colour Awards, and if they feel they fulfill the requirements, they are invited to fill in a colour nomination form. Please note that submitting a form does not automatically guarantee a colour award. The decision to award colours is made at a senior management level. The colour awards are presented at the final Assembly for the year. Parents will be invited to attend if their child is receiving an award.
Presentation Night
An early reminder that this year’s Presentation Night is on Monday 10 December. If you have not already done so, please put this date in your diary. All Dunhelen students are required to attend.
