MUSIC DEPARTMENT
The end of the year is fast approaching and the Music Department continues to be a vibrant representative of the school out and about in the community.
PERFORMANCE SUCCESS
McKinnon Primary School had a fantastic Twilight Fair on Friday 13 November where Alexia Samiotis, Jack Doherty-Brown and Moran Zhou busked to help raise funds for the music tour of Cuba.
Congratulations to the students who also busked at the barbeque at Safeway on Sunday 22 November raising money for the music tour of Cuba, including Jack Doherty-Brown, Gabi Basman and Moran Zhou. Well done on your ongoing support of the Music Department.
Congratulations to the Saxophone ensemble who performed on Monday 23 November at the VCE Leadership Awards. Callum Charles, Caitlin Cohen, Benjamin Exell, Jessie Park, Matthew Phyland and Alexia Samiotis provided high-level music that entertained those who had gathered for the awards ceremony and afternoon tea. Thank you to Ms Su Rogerson for her coordination of this group.
On Monday 23 November Ms Su Rogerson’s instrumental students performed in a very successful soiree. This was a great opportunity for parents to see the progress of their children in a very relaxed atmosphere. Thank you to Ms Rogerson for her organization of this event, the students and parents for making this evening a great success.
Congratulations to the Ovenden Band who toured local primary schools (McKinnon Primary School, Caulfield Primary School and Murrumbeena Primary School) on Wednesday 25 November. The standard of performance was fantastic and we thank Ms Tracy Videon for her ongoing development of this outstanding group.

- Tuesday 15 December Senior Stage Band performing at Presentation Night at 7:30pm
RETURN OF INSTRUMENTS
Hire instruments need to be returned for the annual Stocktake and Service by Friday 4 December, except for those students who have school performances in the following week. (This will be discussed with individual students as appropriate).
HOLIDAY HIRE
Students who are wishing to hire musical instruments over the January break need to complete a hire form, available from the Music Centre from Tuesday 1 December. Instruments will not be available until after Tuesday 15 December.
