Classroom News - Year 2

NEW TURF QUIET PLAY AREA
The children are thoroughly enjoying the new turf "Quiet Play" area. Year 2 enjoy this space for their lunch eating area as well as breaking out there for some lessons. Thank you Stage 2 for your colourful bean bags- they are prized as prime seating spots. Many activities take place here, such as chatting quietly with friends, reading, small toy play, or just sitting.
SPORTS UNIFORM ON MONDAYS!
We are very excited that starting next week Mr Walkley will be teaching the children Golf skills. The lessons will be on a Monday, so we would like the children to wear their YELLOW SPORTS UNIFORM on Mondays for these lessons. That means they will not wear it on Wednesday, but they will need their House Sport Uniform on Fridays. This will continue for the rest of the term.
UP, DOWN ALL AROUND
In our Science unit this term, Year 2 are looking at the Earth and its surroundings. We are investigating how things change at different times. This week a letter was sent home asking the children to investigate some places at home and how they change at nighttime. There are some ideas on the sheet for the children to investigate. They might look at the night sky, or how the light is on at night, maybe study the shadows and how they are longer at dusk. We appreciate your help with this investigation.
HISTORY
We are looking at Family History - Family Stories this term. We will be asking the children to find out about their Family Tree, and share any interesting family stories they might have, eg Grandad won BEST axeman at the Guyra Show in 1975. We would also like to share old photographs, especially of family together. It would be great if they could bring in some items of family history to share with us, eg mums teddy bear, dads favourite toy, Grandma's rosary beads.
We would cherish them!
