STAFFING NEWS

At the end of the term Bianca will begin her Maternity Leave.  We will all miss Bianca and her amazing talents.  She is a brilliant educator who is a real lifelong learner.  She has taught many students at St Kevin’s. Her gentle, professional and caring approach comes with great knowledge in many areas, especially in Wellbeing.  Bianca has been a competent innovative leader, strong mentor and she has worked so hard to ensure all programs are running effectively because she is passionate about the students' learning and overall social emotional wellbeing. I have really enjoyed working with Bianca and thank her for all her efforts.  She has gone over and above my expectations to assist staff, parents and students with caring for the students and providing them with many varied opportunities to grow and learn.  We wish her and Jacob well in the adventure called parenthood and look forward to seeing lots of baby snaps! God bless.

In Term 4 Ms. Fiona George will join the St Kevin’s Team as Prep/1 Teacher and Wellbeing Leader.  Fiona is an experienced teacher who enjoys working with students and building parent partnerships.  She has worked in both the Government Educational Sector as well as the Catholic Sector.  We all welcome Fiona to the St Kevin’s community. Fiona and Bianca will work on a detailed transition this term.

Claire Ryan has resigned from her role as Physical Education Teacher at St Kevin’s.  The students have enjoyed learning with Claire and we wish her well in her future ventures.  Andrew Puls has agreed to take on this position for Term 4. While Andrew is teaching PE there will be a permanent teacher guiding and teaching the Year 5/6 students for two days. As soon as the days and appointment has been finalised the information will be communicated to the parents of the students in this grade.

SCHOOL COUNSELOR In Term 4 we welcome Caroline Rutkowski to our school community. Caroline is completing her final Year in Master of Clinical Psychology and also working at Emmanuel College. Students can be referred to Caroline by Parents and Teachers (with Parental Consent).

KINDER AFTERNOON TEA

This afternoon neighbouring Kinders and Childcare Managers, Directors and Teachers have been invited to our school tour,  High Tea and promotional discussion.  It is so important to build relationships and ensure the community is aware of our wonderful school, great initiatives and programs offered to our families and students.

The MACSIS Survey is open now and closes on the 16th of September. This week all families will be emailed this survey with a unique PIN number.

LANGUAGES AT ST KEVIN’S

Languages Evening with Linton Rowe from MACS

Last week we had a great learning opportunity with Linton. He spoke to us about learning languages, gestures and the brain.  I sincerely thank all parents who attended the evening.  The feedback has been extremely positive.  St Kevin’s will launch into the Teachers as Co-learner Approach to teach Italian in 2023. With this approach the teachers will learn Italian alongside the students. A language assistant will coach us all at the moment we have been trialling this approach with a few classes and I must say the students have been amazing, especially Senior C.  They were outstanding learners of Italian on Friday morning. Best lesson I have taught at St Kevin’s! Bravissimi! Well done!  I was SO SO SO impressed!

EARLY ARRIVALS & LATE PICK UPS

If you are dropping your child/children at St Kevin's before 8.45am they must attend before school care. If you are picking up your child after 3.45pm or 3:30pm (Wednesday) they must attend after school care. Staff are not available to supervise your child/children before 8.45am and it is unsafe to leave children on their own. We are privileged to have this service available to our community.

COMPUTERS AND IPADS

Our order of new iPads and computers has arrived and these will go into circulation by this term. These items are on a three year lease. Each teacher will be given an iPad to assist the introduction of SeeSaw. SeeSaw is an online application that will be used to communicate and track student learning.

COMPASS

We have signed up to Compass (Administration Portal) and through Term 4 we will begin implementation and training.   More information to follow!

20 Parents read the last newsletter and completed the survey.

It would be great if 82 families respond to the survey!

How can we grow this number?  By suggesting to fellow parents to complete the survey.

Thank you to all parents who do complete the survey.

Second hand School Uniforms

When purchasing second hand uniforms could you please re label with your students name. This is essential for if they end up in lost property and so the children can identify their own clothing if lost.
