Victorian School Music Festival

The Victorian School Music Festival involves school bands, orchestras, jazz ensembles and choirs performing in some of Victoria’s premier performing spaces including the Hawthorn Arts Centre.

Performing at VSMF is the full sensory experience with young musicians performing on stage in their ensemble, receiving given immediate feedback on stage from a highly skilled adjudicator. Participants are involved in listening to others in performance, watching how it can be done differently with opportunities to analyse their own performance back at school by listening to the recording and watching the video provided.

This Term the Wantirna College String Orchestra and Symphonic Band will perform at the VSMF, Hawthorn Arts Centre.

BE MORE CHILL

After 2 weeks of shows (and even more weeks of rehearsals!) this year’s production of ‘Be More Chill’ has come to a close and, as always, the students had an absolute blast and put on some amazing performances.

Production is a massive undertaking by many people and I would like to thank staff members Andrew Lewis, Shane Kruger, Beryl Birrell, Surya Ganesan, Evie Ball, Mel Zulfric, Clara Ranellone, Michaela Piritidis, as well as our amazing volunteers – Scott Trippett, Josh Trippett, Mikaela Roberts, Cory Roberts, Branden Butler and Ebony Christoff for all their hard work.

It was wonderful to once again have a live band made up of staff (Michelle Lam, Michelle Dang, Lachlan Barratt, Jonathan Skovron and Jack Bennett) and professional musicians providing the music for the show.

Planning for our 2023 show is already well underway (don’t ask me questions I won’t tell you…!)

Buy your Piano Key!

With the continued growth and success of our program the time has come to furnish our music program with another high quality piano and the Parents of Performing Arts are running our “Buy a Piano Key” fundraiser to raise money towards the cost of a brand new Baby Grand Piano.

Families and friends have the opportunity to leave a long lasting contribution to the program by purchasing one of 88 Piano Keys for $100.

As well as having your name (or group name) commemorated on a Plaque, everyone who purchases a piano key will also receive an actual piano key* as a memento of your contribution and a token of our thanks.

This is a unique and meaningful way of contributing to our program and your continued support helps ensure that our students will always have high quality instruments.

Individuals and groups can “Buy a Piano Key” for $100 through Trybooking:

https://www.trybooking.com/BRPSH

Thank you for your support.
