State Parliament Visit
College Captains
On Thu 18 August, College Captains together with Year 12 Captains visited State Parliament as guests of Nick Wakeling MP and Kim Wells MP. We were given a tour of both Chambers of Parliament and learnt some of the history of the architecture of the building as well as previous Parliamentarians.
We were very interested to learn that Queen Victoria's statue came to Australia because it was accidentally made incorrectly! The wrong foot was placed forward of the other which symbolised war instead of peace. This was a huge embarrassment so they shipped her statue off to Australia - the furthest place possible from the Queen!
It was an informative and interesting experience and we were very proud to represent Wantirna College at this historical landmark.
