Principal's Message

Today is ‘R U OK’ day across Australia. This day presents a great opportunity to reach out to families, friends and colleagues and ‘touch base’ to ask the question ‘Are You Okay?’. In our close knit community at ARPS, we are often aware of the challenges and life’s ‘ups and downs’ that various families are facing. Any day is a great day to offer support to those we care for, and today is a great reminder that just a few words can really mean the difference for someone who is ‘doing it tough’.

You don’t need to be an expert to have an R U OK? conversation. Listening and giving someone your time might be just what they need to help them through.

WE WANT OUR PARENTS/CAREGIVERS/GUARDIANS TO TELL US WHAT THEY THINK! THE SURVEY IS STILL OPEN

Our school is conducting a survey to find out what parents/caregivers/guardians think of our school. The Parent/Caregiver/Guardian Opinion Survey is an annual survey offered by the Department of Education and Training that is designed to assist schools in gaining an understanding of families’ perceptions of school climate, student behavior, and student engagement. We encourage all families to participate in this survey. Our school will use the survey results to help inform and direct future school planning and improvement strategies.

While previously a random sample of approximately 30 per cent of parents/caregivers/guardians have been selected to participate, this year, all families are invited to participate in the survey.

The Parent/Caregiver/Guardian Opinion Survey will be conducted from Monday 15th August to Friday 16th September.

SURVEYS WERE EMAILED TO ALL PARENTS VIA COMPASS WITH LINK AND ACCESS PIN INFORMATION.

The survey will be conducted online, only takes 20 minutes to complete, and can be accessed at any convenient time within the fieldwork period on desktop computers, laptops, tablets or smartphones. The online survey will be available in a range of languages other than English. These include: Arabic, Vietnamese, Simplified Chinese, Chin (Hakha), Hindi, Japanese, Somali, Turkish, Punjabi and Greek.

We are eager to have as many families as possible taking part in the survey-every family matters and we are eager to hear a ‘voice’ from every parent/carer in the school!

Spotlight on Teaching and Learning- NAPLAN 2022

The 202 NAPLAN data sets were made available to schools this week, along with individual student reports. Printed individual student achievement reports have been sent home with year 3 and 5 students on Tuesday, or collected from the office if requested.

Information about our schools’ results in NAPLAN will be provided in the newsletter once the data has been reviewed by staff. We have been particularly pleased at the initially reviewed results for our Writing and Spelling outcomes, which shows strong achievement outcomes for many of our students, especially in Year 3.

ICAS UNSW assessments

Many thanks to Mrs Robyn Williams who coordinated the completion of our 2022 ICAS assessments for enrolled students this year. For those students choosing to participate, the online assessments were completed over the last few weeks. We look forward to sharing the results and achievements of this group next term.
