Deputy Principals Report

With the passing of our late sovereign, Queen Elizabeth II, we are well reminded of her duty to service and self-discipline for over 70 years. Her life as Monarch and mother show us a clear example that when truly dedicated, amazing things can be achieved for oneself and others.

With her life as inspiration, we as learners and students of life, are brought to a clearer understanding that the energies and efforts we apply in gaining knowledge and skills appreciate in their value as we grow and serve our fellow human beings.

At Oakleigh Grammar, we are dedicated to ensuring that these core attributes of self-dedication and application for achievement and service for others are at the heart of our teaching and learning programs at all year levels, all ages and all levels of ability.

Now, with the end of Term 3 having arrived, most parents will be notified as to when they can access students’ interim reports, and will then be sent information regarding parent/teacher interviews and student-led conferences. We take this feedback upon student learning as opportunities for growth and change. Improving in application, knowledge acquisition, skill and understanding is an ongoing and life-long process. They are not merely haphazard or transitory but embodied by an attitude to be true to oneself, and capacities for self-benefit, for the ones we love and the world as a whole.

To paraphrase Albert Einstein: Always regard study as an enviable opportunity to learn to know the liberating influence of beauty in the realm of the spirit, for your own personal joy and to the profit of the community to which your later work belongs.
