Wellbeing MATTERS!

Wellbeing MATTERS!

Dear Families,

Welcome back to Term 3!! :)

It was so good to see the students walking through the quadrangle doors each morning last week, smiling and chatting with friends and teachers! Everyone back into the routine of school and the familiar sights and sounds of learning and students playing during break times.

Unfortunately, as you read this newsletter the ‘5 day Lockdown’ has been extended and we need to wait a little longer to settle into the term’s work.  Hopefully we will get into some sound learning for the students and the teachers! Fingers crossed we will be back next week!!!  :))

Here are “7 Tips for Families” from ChildSafe during Lockdown.

This term our PBIS focus will be on ‘Responsibility’.  There are so many ways we can look at when teaching responsibility and what this means for our students and children.

We could also look at “How to be a RESPONSIBLE person” and this could apply to all of us!  So let’s take a quick look at what this could mean for ALL of us …..

  1. Being reliable and dependable - when we agree to do something, we do it.
  2. We take care of our own business - we don’t ask or make others do what we’re supposed to do.
  3. We take responsibility for our own actions - we don’t make excuses or blame others.
  4. We use our head - we think before we act and we imagine or think through the possible consequences of our actions.
  5. We take care of our belongings

“Responsibility” is a key word here at Sacred Heart and, as teachers, we play an important role in helping students to become responsible - interpersonally, personally, at home, and in our community and the global community - alongside you as Parents.  We’ll explore this more as term 3 progresses.

And I am happy to be working alongside the PBIS team of Mele, Owen, Imogen, Tanner and Rory.  Together we will present some information and learnings about Responsibility as the term progresses.   So, stay tuned!

Oh, and by the way how’d your conversations go with your child(ren) over the break?  Did those questions help the chatting?  Hope so! I hope you keep using them to generate the ‘chat’ with your child to not only learn more about your child’s school days but to keep connecting positively and building your relationship with them.

Please feel free to contact me if you have any concerns or queries.
