Message From Our

Principal

Dear Parents and Caregivers,

A warm welcome back to Term 3.

It was great to see everyone enthusiastic and ready for a busy and productive term last week. Unfortunately, it has been interrupted with the announcement of Lockdown 5.0 which was disappointing for everyone. However, we are all becoming very good at quickly changing the routines and adapting to the new situations and I have no doubt we will make the most of this one too. A particular thank you to all our families who are juggling working from home with remote learning. We know it has its challenges and I greatly appreciate your understanding and support during this time as we all do what is necessary to help reduce community movement and prevent the spread of COVID-19.

Hopefully this snap lockdown will achieve its intended purpose and we anticipate having all the children back on site on Wednesday July 28th. We will keep you updated if any further announcements are made. Please do not hesitate to contact your child’s teacher if you need anything to help over the coming days.

Every day of learning counts, whether that be at school or home so please encourage your child/children to engage in the materials provided as best as they can. As in previous lockdowns, keeping the routine is so important. Please take some time to read the “7 Tips for Families” on the Wellbeing Matters page.

Unfortunately Learning Conversations which were to take place this week had to be postponed and we are not sure when they will be rescheduled. If you had anything in particular you wanted to discuss during this time, please contact your child’s teacher as soon as possible.

Congratulations to Amelia Petrie, Eliza and Sarah Abrahams and Ivy and Annie Aikman who represented Sacred Heart School in the Equestrian Australia Interschools Qualifier recently. All the girls and their ponies had a very successful two days and despite the very cold weather were wonderful ambassadors for our school. Well done girls and a particular thank you to their families for their support.

I’m looking forward to commencing our meetings with our 2022 enrolments over the coming weeks. Meeting our new students and getting to know their families is always such a highlight for me and I am hoping that our meetings will still go ahead on site after the lockdown. If any families are intending to enrol at Sacred Heart in 2022, we ask that your enrolment application is sent into the school office as soon as possible.

We have a very busy term coming up although many events have been either postponed or rescheduled so please keep up to date with the school calendar on PAM.

Pope Francis announced the World Day for Grandparents and the Elderly, which is to be celebrated each year on the fourth Sunday of July to coincide with the feast of St. Joachim and St. Anne, Jesus’ grandparents. Pope Francis reminds us “Grandparents are a treasure in the family, please take care of them and love them.” Perhaps all the children could make contact with their grandparents or elderly friends this Sunday and let them know what a treasure they are to their families. I wish all our grandparents a very special day and look forward to having you all visit us again as soon as it is possible.

Congratulations to Evie Harman who was presented with the Principal’s Award. Evie always has a cheerful, smile on her face and goes out of her way to help others. She gives new things a go much more confidently and always does her very best. Evie has shown us what a resilient person she can be over the past few weeks. Well done Evie!

May the Sacred Heart of Jesus continue to watch over our school community and bless us always.
