Teaching & Learning

Remote Learning

Huge gratitude goes out to all our Buninyong and Scotsburn families for working through this period of remote learning. We acknowledge the challenges of learning from home and the different impacts it has on each and every family. Thanks for working with the remote learning approach the school has developed and I am sure it will all be over soon and we will be back in the classroom getting stuck into our face-to-face learning.

This week we moved to an approach that is more conducive to building connections between teachers and students and their peers. It requires greater use of Webex and Compass to communicate and submit work. It seemed to get off to a relatively smooth start yesterday.

As a reminder the following outlines what learning will look like for students from now until we return to the classroom.

  • Daily check-ins begin using WebEx video conferencing
    • Preps - 9.15am
    • Yr 1/2 - 9.45am
    • Yr 3/4 - 9.30am
    • Yr 5/6 - 9.15am
  • Daily learning conferences begin using WebEx video conferencing - These will be explained at morning check-in and will usually be between 10am and 12 noon.
  • Specialists conduct check-ins to support student understandings of specialist tasks - these will be explained at morning check-in and will occur between 10am - 12noon.
  • Student Learning Task Boards - You can find these on your Compass Notifications. They are sent home on Friday afternoons.
  • Teachers provide feedback (verbal or written) via morning check-ins, conferences or on Compass learning tasks.
  • Students submit work via Compass Learning Tasks. - check out video below.

Submitting Work on Compass Learning Tasks

Each week there will be certain tasks that students will be required to submit for feedback. These are submitted through Compass Learning Tasks. Below is a short video that helps explain how to do this.

Should you have any trouble, please contact your child’s classroom teacher.

School Excursion Consent and Payment is now Paperless Through Compass

We are very pleased to inform all families that permission forms will now be distributed and signed for digitally for all excursions. This includes an easy payment option for those excursions which include a cost. This will further assist the school to move toward a paperless system which will streamline our communication process for excursions and reduce workload for administration staff and teachers.

School Council have agreed to trial the process for Semester 2 before making a decision on whether to adopt this process on a more permanent basis.

If you have any questions, please don’t hesitate to contact the office staff.

So what will it look like…

Once an excursion permission form is created by the school, it will be sent to you via a notification and/or an email. Your child will also be reminded to let their parents know as well.

You can then access the permission form on your device or browser as indicated below.
