FIRE Carrier Ceremony

FIRE CARRIERS

Last Tuesday, August 4th, Paula and myself had the privilege of commissioning our proud new FIRE Carriers for 2021.  It has been a long time coming (Take 3) and we were lucky to successfully commission our students before the recent ‘snap lockdown’.

The student’s stood tall and demonstrated great pride during the ceremony.  It was unfortunate that we could not invite parents or CEO dignitaries to our school for the ceremony, but we hope you were able to view the ceremony via a shared video posted last week. Once we return to some sort of normality we hope to involve our students in various projects to promote and acknowledge Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Culture and heritage.

Last Wednesday was ‘National Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Children’s day and Lilah Weston, Meera Kamaeavelly and Zeth Ford all made announcements over our PA system, to encourage our teachers and students to view and listen to children’s stories that promote Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Culture.

I shared the teachers into a link on Storybox Library, which families may also like to view for themselves.  There is a whole theme within the Storybox Library site that shares a wonderful array of Aboriginal and Torres strait Islander Histories and Culture stories. https://storyboxlibrary.com.au/
