Moran Photography Workshop

On the 31st of October students from Bet and Gimmel were treated to a professional photographic workshop, capturing the imagination of many budding young artists.   Every year the Moran Arts Foundation provides free photographic workshops in city, country and remote schools across all corners of Australia. Run by professional photographers, the workshops are an ideal way to foster creativity amongst school students. By encouraging students to be imaginative and creative they build valuable skills and confidence.

Each student receives a digital camera to use for the day. The workshop explores the art and technique of photography, a form of visual storytelling. Five of each student’s favourite photographs are printed to keep as a souvenir of the day and favourite images are entered in the Moran Contemporary photographic Prize which has over $20,000 worth of prize money. Digital cameras are awarded to primary school finalists. There has been an unprecedented number of school entries in recent years with finalists work exhibited at Juniper Hall, Paddington, Sydney and on the website moranprizes.com.au.
