Year 9 Camp

On the 3rd of December the new Year 9 cohort travelled to Roses Gap in the Grampians for their annual camp to get to know each other and their new mentor teachers. The camp is a once in a lifetime adventure filled with amazing activities, memories and time spent together.

The highlights for the students were facing their fears on the pamper pole and the 19-metre-high giant swing, being challenged with the vertical playpen and abseiling down an 18-metre-high rock face. There were also many fun times spent cooling off in the lake while canoeing and raft building.

Many students decided to challenges themselves and hike the 14.5 km return trip to the top of Briggs Bluff, to take in the breath-taking views from over 700m high.

Students also took part in a range of night activities and initiative games, designed to improve teamwork, communication, persistence and leadership skills. The games and activities gave students the opportunity to work with new people and develop new friendships. The camp helped push students out of their comfort zones and inspired them to say ‘yes’ to new opportunities and try new things.
