Performing Arts
As the year draws to a close we reflect on what has been another fantastic year in the Performing Arts. And what a big year it has been! Our production of “Beauty and the Beast” was a highlight whilst also complementing our existing program of dance nights and of course our wonderful Soiree that celebrated its 28th year. The department also celebrated the success of our Rising Stars program, ventured on our first music camp and entertained the community at various events. We are extremely proud of all of our students and look forward to the future as a department.
In looking to the future, the department welcomes the Year 8 student leaders for 2019. It was a difficult task to select as we had a large number of students apply. After much deliberation we are pleased to welcome Andrew Dwyer and Zoya Stott as the Year 8 Music Leaders. We look forward to a fantastic 2019 program with these wonderful students.
On a final note, it is with regret that we say goodbye to one of our amazing Performing Arts teachers. Mrs Hannah Witteveen has been an integral part of the team and we will definitely miss her passion, enthusiasm and commitment to our program. We wish her success and happiness in her new school.
To all our Performing Arts families, we wish you all a very Merry Christmas and look forward to another fantastic year celebrating success in our department.

Year 8 Concert Band had a very special visitor to their rehearsal on Monday! Both staff and students were delighted! Merry Christmas everyone !
Dance
Dance has gone through the roof at PRSC this year! The subject of Dance was offered across every year level in 2018, demonstrating the passion and need for this vital subject in our high functioning Performing Arts department. All students involved in the subject expressed great joy in developing their skills in dance and broadening their understanding of this movement based subject which is not only fun but also develops fitness, boosts self-esteem and improves brain function!
We saw two Dance Evenings presented to sell-out crowds, with over 100 students dancing in professional shows in our state of the art Performing Arts Centre. These were of an exceptionally high standard and involved students from every year level. A wonderful opportunity for the students to show their love for dance and showcase the broad array of talents and passions! These events focussed on what dance is all about; creativity, artistry, teamwork, kindness and respect to your fellow dancers.
A huge congratulations to all involved in dance at PRSC in 2018!
Let’s keep this momentum going in 2019!

Dance now & dance often!
Aerobics
After the immense success of the PRSC Aerobics Team this year, we are expanding to two teams for 2019!
It is with great pleasure that I announce the wonderful addition of our new coach Miss Fiona Lamb. Fiona has worked as an Aerobics instructor for many years and also impeccably assisted & attended the National Finals with our 2018 team.
Winning bronze at the National Aerobics Championships in Queensland this year and seeing the tremendous experience & opportunity this bought to our students has inspired us to expand the reach of this wonderful program to more students.
In 2019 we will have a junior team comprising of year 7 & 8 students, along with a middle years team comprising of year 9 & 10 students. They will compete in the Regional Qualifiers in April and aim to reach State level, if not National!
Auditions will be held in the 2nd week of school for 2019, so if you are keen to get involved, get practising your grapevines & we will look forward to seeing you then!
