Humanities

Location scouts
As part of their introduction to Geography, 7H students recently researched the settings for some famous films. Millie, Olivia, Tahlea and Danni explain:
“We had to name the landmark and find the city, country and continent that each movie was in. For example, Men in Black is set in New York, which is in the United States, in North America. We were surprised that Ratatouille was set in Paris, but we could tell this from the Eiffel Tower.”
New Humanities teachers
Kerry Cameron joined the Humanities staff this year. We asked her to tell us about her background:
Ms Cameron
I’ve lived in three different countries – the UK, Canada and Australia. Australia is definitely the warmest! Before becoming a school teacher, I taught ballet in Edmonton (Canada), London and Cumbria (the UK) for a number of years. I also ran my own ballet school for 19 years in Hamilton (in Australia) and have 700 costumes in storage as a result!
I’m a passionate Humanities and English teacher, and I look forward to working at Wanganui Park. This semester I’m teaching Money Money Money (Economics Level 3) as well as Survival (English Level 1) and Pop Culture (English Level 3).
