On an annual basis we appoint trainees for 12 months to support staff and students in a range of roles. These past students are generally taking a gap year before heading off to further study/training in 2018. Our previous trainees have contributed a great deal to our school and we look forward to working with those listed below in the year ahead.

The Year 7 BBQ will be held to welcome new students and their families to our school community. This will provide parents and guardians the opportunity to meet the teachers of their children. Please come along and enjoy a casual but informative evening in our beautiful front courtyard environment. The evening will also provide an opportunity for students with an interest in music to register an expression of interest in joining one of our wonderful bands or musical ensembles. The Year 10 Peer Education Students will be in attendance, welcoming parents and students and assisting with the BBQ. This is a fantastic way to start your involvement with our school community and help your Year 7 student benefit from a smooth transition from primary to secondary.
Our swimming carnival is scheduled for Monday 13th February. We expect all students to participate in what is always a fun day. Students are required to attend for the full day with buses taking students to and from the pool. All students will be back at the school in time to catch buses or to be collected by parents at the usual time.
Recent works by the Council along Packham Street have resulted in changed parking and traffic conditions around the school. This has had an impact on both short and long term parking, and they out of our control.
In the interests of student safety there is to be no drop off and pick up within the school grounds. It is recommended that the bitumen area adjacent to the tennis courts be a possible pick up area. We will be working closely with the Council in regard to short and long term options and traffic management at the front of the school.
Based on the Department of Education’s Duty of Care policy and our own Child Safety protocols adopted in 2016, we can no longer allow students in Years 7 to 11 to leave the premises during the day. This means there will not be any lunch passes granted to students allowing them to walk home for lunch. We are responsible for the safety of students from the time they enter the school grounds in the morning to the time they leave in the afternoon. Even if parents give permission for their child to walk home for lunch, we are still liable if anything should go wrong. The Department’s legal division has advised us to take this approach from now on. Parents can still come to the school at the start of lunch and sign their child out if they wish. However for those who have had lunch passes previously, the options are now to bring their lunch or purchase lunch at our canteen. You are invited to contact Mr Tanner if you wish to discuss this further.
