Dear Parents/Carers, Families, and the College Communities

This will be our final full Weekly Wrap for this term. My thanks to all staff, students, and family for a busy term.

Events such as Open Day, SeaTrek, Country Week, and the various excursions and incursions add value and interest to our normal program but require significant effort to make happen.

Congratulations to our Year 11s who earlier this term successfully completed the Rural Fire Awareness course delivered by the Department of Fire and Emergency Services. The course covered various elements including safety at fires, fire behaviour and suppression methods. All students are now registered with DFES as having completed the course. This means that should they go on to join their local fire brigade, they will have credit for this training. My thanks to Ricky Southgate DFES Area Officer Preston for his part in organising and delivering the course. We are aiming for this to be an annual event for all our Year 11s.

You would all be aware of the flu that has been working its way through our students and staff and would have received the information that was sent home this week. This particular flu has affected some students quite seriously and some returned to school earlier than they should have and then had to go home again.  Basic personal hygiene is the best prevention and then once infected, rest and hydration. My thanks to those families who assisted by having their child home when sick.

Thanks in advance for those staff involved with Country Week which takes a lot of arranging. Thanks especially to Judith Towler the grandmother of one of our students who took on the role of coaching our netball team and will be joining us for the week.

If you are in Perth next week please come down and barrack for our teams. Fixtures and results will be posted regularly on our Facebook site.

Take care over the next couple of weeks.

Regards
