Respectful Relationships

Respectful Relationships (RR) is at the centre of everything we do here at Macleod. As a community, we have held numerous activities across this term to highlight our priority for RR. As always, our students were the spearheads behind the scenes, taking the reins when organising the following events.

Berry Street Education Model

Macleod College is dedicated to improving its trauma-informed practices. This is evident through their participation in the first of four days of Berry Street Education Model (BSEM) training.

The Berry Street Education Model recognises the profound impact of trauma on students' lives. Equipped with evidence-based strategies, Macleod College's staff are empowered to understand and respond effectively to trauma.

By creating a trauma informed educational environment, the school prioritises student wellbeing, ensuring academic, emotional, and social growth.

This ongoing commitment to trauma-informed education demonstrates Macleod College's strong ongoing dedication to providing a safe and supportive space for all students.

Mental Health Week

During Mental Health Week, Macleod College students chose to wear blue as a way to acknowledge the significance of mental health and wellbeing. Seeing students around the campus wearing the colour created an atmosphere of inclusivity, encouraging discussions about self-care. It was a thoughtful gesture that highlighted the importance of mental health support within the school community.

Indigenous Healing Garden

During Reconciliation Week, Macleod College celebrated the official opening of the Indigenous Healing Garden. Supportive staff and Koorie students joined forces to plan and implement a space that symbolises unity, cultural understanding, and healing. The garden is the culmination of hours of hard work from staff, parents, students and friends, with the crew putting in work on cold weekends cementing their dedication to inclusion at Macleod. The garden's official opening marked a significant milestone in the school's commitment to reconciliation and honouring Indigenous heritage.

It serves as a reminder of the importance of acknowledging and respecting Aboriginal culture within the school community. Macleod College celebrates this as a testament to fostering inclusivity, promoting reconciliation, and creating a harmonious environment for all students.
