Moana Jnr: Year Five and Year Six Auditions for Main Roles.

‘Moana Jr.’ is scheduled to be staged across two performances at The Frankston Arts Centre on Monday, October 16. As there will be two performances of Moana, two students have been cast in each role for the shows and students will be allocated to either performance, or both performances if deemed necessary, as specified in the Audition Registration posted on Operoo in Term One. All other students from Foundation to Year Six will have the opportunity to perform in both the daytime and evening performances. In addition, a range opportunities will also exist for:

-Year 1-4 students to perform a tap dance, led by Mrs Heath.

-Year 5 and 6 students to perform in a contemporary dance item led by Mrs McKeown

-Year 3-6 students who are choir members to perform in a feature item, led by me.

A question that students always ask me as production days edge closer is, ‘Do I have to be in the production?’ The short answer is no. However, participation in rehearsals forms the basis of the Performing Arts Curriculum at St Brendan's  in Terms Two and Three. Students are therefore  expected to participate fully in these learning activities during specialist classes.

Parents with concerns or challenges around their child’s participation are asked to contact myself or a member of the leadership team as soon as possible. However, school productions at St Brendan’s School are traditionally one of the highlights of community engagement in our school, which only occur every second year. Families are reminded of the importance of students challenging themselves as learners, and building upon character strengths which help them to navigate the world as they grow.

Our production of Moana Jr. promises to be a wonderful experience for all students, no matter what their level of confidence is or their skills are. In my past experience, many students who are apprehensive to participate have even developed an ongoing love for performance and theatre through their production experiences at St Brendan’s.

Please encourage your son or daughter to anticipate this special event with positivity and a ‘can do’ attitude. You never know, this might just be ‘the best day/night ever’ for them as they build on the following skills, and more:

Yours in faith & harmony.

Dear Parent/ Carers

We are looking to borrow tap shoes for our up coming production of Moana. If you have any, or know of someone or dance company that would be willing to lend us tap shoes, we would be most grateful. Please get in contact with the school office, or go directly to Lorna Health.

Many thanks
