A message from Mrs Jeanenne Gale and Mrs Michelle Porter

Multicultural Perspectives Public Speaking Competition

Ben Venue was proudly represented by four students at the Multicultural Perspectives Public Speaking Competition in Tamworth last Tuesday.

Stage 2 - Greta Mulready and Mariam Allam

Stage 3 - Ryka Pankaj and Henry Larsen

This competition encourages primary school students to explore ideas of multiculturalism in Australia while they practice their public speaking skills and improve their confidence. Students presented a prepared speech and were then given ten minutes to plan an impromptu speech.

Students enjoyed the experience and were given some great feedback by the adjudicator Tony Davey which is sure to assist in the development of their public speaking skills into the future.

I would like to thank these students for all the work they put into their speeches. You should be extremely proud of yourselves.

Ben Venue School Band

The Ben Venue School Band was formed at the beginning of the term and has been meeting every Wednesday during lunchtime. Miss Wendy, who is a local cello teacher and double bass player, has been running the rehearsals. The band already has 3 songs under their belt and are sounding fantastic! Some members have started getting ready for the combined orchestra performance as part of the An Evening with ACOS Gala on Thursday 10 August.

New members are always welcome, particularly any students who learn an instrument outside of school.
