More than just Discos!

Shine Bright Disco, Prep - Year 2s

There was an array of bright colours, excited giggles and fabulous dance moves as 241 of our Junior Primary Students partied on the dance floor in the Community Hub last Friday night.

Parents were able to enjoy some time connecting and chatting with other families, indulging in a delicious spread of food and drinks, while students tapped their feet and swung their arms to the wonderful beats of 'DJ BK' from Kids Disco Parties. There were novelty props and photo booths, goody bags with sugary treats and a delicious pizza dinner for all attendees to enjoy.

This event has been on the FOD calendar for a number of years now, and it is so special to see students and their parents enjoying these wonderful evenings together. Huge thanks to Mrs Bonello and Mrs LePage for their cameo appearance on the dance floor, and to the hard-working Maintenance team for providing such enormous support during set up and pack up too!

Thank you also to our Year 6 Junior Primary Leaders who did a fantastic job supporting, encouraging and serving our youngest students.

Year 4 Social Event Monday 10 July

With the music of last Friday's disco still ringing in our ears, FOD invites all Year 4 students and their siblings (aged 4-13) to a social event to round off the winter holidays.

Join us on Monday 10 July at RUSH HQ in Rowville from 10am to 12 noon for two hours of adventurous games and socialising. This is a Friends of Donvale Community Event - a parent or supervising adult must be present at all times.

Tickets cost $15 for each participant, which includes two hours of activity, socks, water and treat bag. Hot food and coffee/tea can also be purchased at the venue!

Bookings essential via Trybooking by 10pm Friday 7 July.

Join in with FOD ...

Remember - FOD events happen because parents just like you volunteer their time and enthusiasm! So if you fancy joining in with one of our community events, we'd love to hear from you.

The best way to do this is to join our Volunteers WhatsApp group. When you volunteer for any FOD event, you must have a valid Working With Children Check and have completed the simplified online Basic Volunteer Course. It really is simple!

And Finally - a Winter Warmer!

Surely there's no better way to get through the winter solstice than with a steaming mug of hot chocolate, courtesy of Friends of Donvale! That's what every Primary student, all 689 of them, not to mention staff, enjoyed on Wednesday, with every allergy and sensitivity duly catered for. A sunny day, and a sunny, servant-hearted gesture bringing smiles all round - thank you FOD. Enjoy your holiday break.
