Year 4 Social Skills Sessions

At Sacred Heart, we strongly believe that developing effective social skills is crucial

for our students overall well-being and success, both academically and personally.

As part of our commitment to their holistic growth, we have planned a series of

engaging sessions focused on building empathy, promoting kindness, and fostering

positive relationships among our Year 4 students.

These social skills sessions will be facilitated by Kimberley, one of our speech pathologists from Now We're Talking, who has training and expertise in supporting students' social-emotional development. Through interactive activities, role-plays, discussions, and various other techniques, we aim to help students understand the impact of their actions, develop empathy towards others, and learn effective strategies for resolving conflicts in a respectful

and constructive manner.

The sessions will cover important topics such as:

1. What are the qualities of a good friend?

2. Understanding empathy and perspective-taking

3. Recognizing the consequences of unkind behaviour

4. Strategies for resolving conflicts peacefully

5. Promoting inclusivity and celebrating diversity

Our intention is to empower our students with the tools they need to navigate social

interactions positively, to develop healthy friendships, and to contribute to a

supportive and inclusive school community.
