Meet the Board

The Girton Grammar School Board is currently made up of ten members who are responsible for the overall strategic direction of the School.

The Board’s major responsibilities include oversight of the School’s mission and values, the Girton Grammar School Strategic Plan 2023-2028, and the Girton Grammar School Master Plan 2023-2033. The Board also has responsibilities with regard to financial oversight of the School, especially in relation to the fee structure and expansion of buildings and facilities.

The composition of the Board is broad, with a range of professional skills represented by its members. Over the next few editions of eLink, we would like to introduce our Board members to the Girton community.

This week, we would like to introduce you to board member, Mr Raphael Krelle.

Mr Raphael Krelle BA, Grad Dip of Business (Property), Member of the Planning Institute of Australia (MPIA)

My role on the Board:

I was appointed as a Board Director in March 2022, and I currently serve on the Campus Development and Major Projects Sub-committee and the Finance Sub-committee.

My connection with Girton:

Girton Grammar School has a special place in my family, as my wife is a past student of Girton College and a founding student of Girton Grammar. We have three children who currently attend the School.

My background and experience:

As a town planner with qualifications in business (property), I have worked in various private and local government roles across Victoria. For the past 15 years, I have operated a town planning consulting business in Bendigo, where I have gained extensive experience in planning and development in rural and regional areas.

Through my work, I have developed a strong understanding of the challenges and opportunities facing regional communities, and I am committed to leveraging this expertise to support the School's mission and objectives.

My motivation for joining the Board:

My motivation for joining the Girton Grammar School Board was driven by a strong desire to contribute to the School's future and help shape its ongoing success. I have a deep appreciation for the outstanding education that Girton provides to its students, and I believe that it plays a critical role in shaping the future of our community.

As a Board Director, I am particularly excited about the opportunity to contribute to the School's Master Plan process and work with the School's executive leadership team to shape future changes and improvements. I believe that this process is critical in ensuring that the School continues to meet the evolving needs of its students and community, and I am eager to contribute my expertise and insights to this important work.

In addition, as someone who has spent much of my career working in governance settings in my professional life, I am keen to gain experience in a different governance setting and contribute my skills and expertise to the School.
